True to her Pinoy heritage
AUCKLAND – True to her Pinoy heritage, Joanne is passionate about the arts.
The 22-year-old NZ-born Filipina, who graduated in Arts and Design and will soon have her BA in Visual Arts, has a talent for painting that has seen her work exhibited in several galleries and art shows.
Add to that a love of dancing, a flair for make-up artistry and a flourishing appreciation of Filipino culture.
Joanne has been seen in various festivals, including Miss Philippines 2012, Sinulog Festival Queen 2014 and Halo Halo NZ’s Maginoo at Binibining Filipino News Cultural Pageant.
She admits to feeling a little out of place in front of the camera as a model, but the shots speak for themselves.
Although her father is from Bicol and her mother is from Manila, Joanne didn’t always identify so strongly with her Filipino roots as a child, but her interest has grown in recent years and today she truly represents the best of both cultures.
